A townhouse development was built on a important drafting site . The developer had originally promised a drafting standpipe. Instead they provided Turbodraft devices for each pumper. We are not happy with the long setup time for little gpm. A call for tankers to our mutual aid will get more water faster.
I know everyone has imitated room on their truck but looks to me like if you us this much you could set up a skid load with this already hooked up to both hoses, then it’s just a matter of dropping and go with a simple hookup at the truck. I also find it very hard to believe that MA with tankers is faster, you may get more water but by the time you set up a tanker opp and wait for MA you could have done a good knock down. I think if you did some math, you would be a long way into the scene before the tanker shuttle match the GPM of this device, remember the first 5 minutes dictate the next 5 hours, no I don’t have one, never even seen it work but with common sense and a little math, well unless you are in defensive mode, you should get a knock down.
Thanks for the info. I tried to get my company to look into it, even had a dealer offer to put on a demo. But no one else wanted to take a look. I often wondered if it worked, now I know. I think
that I'll push a little harder now that I know it works. It could be a hard sell with one company, they put in 3 dry hydrants last year. Thanks again.
We have the turbo draft at our dept. It works great. The only problem we have found is when you get to pulling water up over 15 feet it doesnt work that will.
We have 2 3000 gal. tankers within 10 min. 6 engines carrying 1000 gal. about the same. Our best set up time has been 15 min. from parking to water flow. My math, 12000 gal. available before i can start flowing 600 gpm.
