Firemen's Banquet . How many of you have them and what do you do at yours?

We just had our yearly Fireman's banquet and once again it was great. We did it a little different this year. We had a ham or roast beef dinner with potatoes, brussel sprouts, etc. The ladies brought the desserts. We first had social hour and this year we had a bunch of memorabilia and things from way back, lots of history displayed for everyone to look at. Then we had our dinner which was prepared by our chief and assistant chiefs all home made. Then after dinner was dessert (yummy). We then had our award presentation which was for officer of the year, junior firefighter of the year, senior firefighter of the year, plus we threw in 2 funny awards. After that my significant other and myself spent months on putting together a slide show with music of past times and current times at the fire house. The slide show was about an hour and everyone seemed to enjoy it.... Next year we would like to do something else. Any ideas?

Our firehouse separates firefighter and junior firefighter banquets because of how many junior firefighters we have, im not sure what went on the the firemens banquet but ill tell you about the junior firefighters. Both are in january though.
All the junior firefighters clean the firehouse top to bottom, we wear our jff shirts and everyone brings something to eat. Last time we had so much food we ran out of table space... that was interesting. There was a slide show of everything we had done in the last year and the advisers did a little section of the meeting. It was amazing. Our president who stepped down to go to college got a plaque, as did our head adviser for all the work they put into our program. The parents left and we stayed around the firehouse talking until about 3 am (wasn't a school night) and just really had a good time

we eat dance and socolize for like 3 hrs then all the adults get really goofey and do weird stuff and we all ways have a caterer come set up for ours but its allways really fun this year they taughtn the adults to swing dance and 1 jr danced in his gear we have fun

First Sat. in April. At our rec building. Catered. Invitations to members, village dignitaries and key employees, County Fire Coordinator, all mutual aid chiefs, life members and all spouses. Plaques, restraunt gift certificates, ect. in recogntion of: top ten alarm responders (of 712 alarms in 08), career (as a volunteer) alarm responses in 1,000 intervals. One of our people who joined when I started recognizing 1,000 alarms back in 72, just broke his own record wioth 11,000 alarms. Also: top ten drill responders (of 53 regularly scheduled two hour drills required in By-Laws), years of service in five year intervals, any EMS, FF or State level certifications, Past Pres and Past Chief and most active "Medic In Charge". After introducing all the guests and award recipients, it makes for a long evening but the recognition is worth it. If you have or can invite some Fire Service dignitary who is also an entertaining MC, he can liven things up a little. Works for us.

we do a valentines party and usually them men serve the ladies but this year we did it different also we went to a restaurant and had a meal with a social hour also it was great cause we could actually eat with our significant others which is great

we have honours nite in new zealand generally a flash feed followed be service awards and the funny awards and a prayer for our fallen brothers/sisters then down to the serious side of telling bulls##t stories and whell we do this another crew comes across from our neighbouring town to cover us so we feed and water them too (alcohol free)
