I was just wondering how many departments have Fire Police, and are they paid or vol. departments ?? Do they hold any type of peace officer status, or are they civilians ???
We don't have Fire police in the department I belong to, and was just wondering how many departments did. WOW IS THIS A HOT & HEATED DISCUSSION
We are a rural volunteer FD and have fire police. As far as I know all volunteer departments in NY state have fire police; here all FP are given peace officer status upon completion of a course given by the Sheriff's office.
Hey Tony, I really don't give two *#*# what the police think about it, it's just a simple question, like in the term
Policing the area, means, picking up garbage in the area, whats the BIG deal by using the word police ?
Mickey, your simple question? I answered that. Did the addition of a light-hearted comment, such as often appear here in posts, confuse you?
You've taken issue with my comment, so I'll expand. Here (notice that word?) we have only one police force in each State, plus one Federal. Those bodies take offence if other organisations try to use the word 'Police' in their job titles etc. No other government body will use the word 'Police' as a job title even if they have an enforcement role in their function. Also, we in the fire service don't have a law enforcemnt role, we utilise the Police for that.
Now, I've learnt today that in your area the Police are garbage collectors, any day that I learn something new is never a total waste. If you visit my country (many people from you country do, it's nice here), I'd suggest that you don't tell any of our coppers that they should be picking up garbage - unless you like being laughed at that is!
