In Genesee Co. Michigan they still use what is called a County Medic which is a Law Enforcement Officer on the Sherrif's Department that is allowed to run Medical calls much like an Echo Unit.Does anyone find these units to be a useful tool in the Fire and EMS community? I understand that they are trying to get rid of them with the putting more medics and basics on Fire Departments is it a wise decision to totally remove County Medics from the road??
Coty,
That County Medic sounds like a great idea. Did they do away with it? I am a Deputy Sheriff by day and FF/EMT when I'm off duty. I get my a$$ chewed if I go to medical calls on duty..and I only went to a few Major calls such as hand amputation, child not breathing, etc..Go Figure.
