I've seen the following written several times by different people. The concepts don't ring true for me, possibly due to coming from a different culture to the writers, so I'm asking for a broader explanation please:

DON'T COMPLAIN - I can see this for a given meaning of the word 'complain', but formal complaint may be the only way to have things changed that need changing. So is the phrase meant to be all-encompassing or limited?
DON'T EXPLAIN - I don't see this one, I often ask for explanation to clear something up, I often provide explanations.
DON'T EVER SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ANYONE - This one is clear.
DON'T EVER GIVE ADVICE BECAUSE NO ONE EVER LISTENS ANYWAY - No, from my side I can't agree with this at all. Then again, perhaps it depends on the nature of the 'advice'?

Dont Complain... Stop your bitchin already
Dont explain... I already know why, how or when it happened and you retelling the story does nothing
Dont ever say anything......Like you that is the way I was raised also
Dont ever give advice..... I am with you again also I will take any advice I can get and then take it witha grain of salt
Don't Complain - No body that cares is listening. Negativity is evil. Don't complain do something about it!
Don't Explain - I will save you the time of explaining because I've already know it or heard it before.
Don't Say Anything Bad About Anyone - Not unless you are prepared to hear and deal with their thoughts of you which could be worse than what you said about them.
Don't Ever Give Advice Because No One Ever Listens Anyway - This to me is BS. If it's good advice give it, it's up to the recipient to listen and use it.
In a nutshell, be cool and reasonable. That's my take on the point of Tony's thread. G'Day mate. TCSS
