Firefighters who are in a relationship, HOW do you make time for your wife/girlfriend?!

I have been with my boyfriend for almost two years and he just became a firefighter..and the entire process was a sacrifice for both of us and very challenging for me to keep busy knowing i could not see him as much due to him studing and staying focus. Now that he is an official "firefighter' there happens to be less time..does this fade away will it get better. Im trying to be understanding but I guess he thinks I'm not. Advice anyone?!! Please!!!

IS TAKE LOT OF HARD WORK HAD A PERSONEL LIFE AND FIREFIGHTING LIFE I HAD A GIRLFRIEND TO AND ALL WAY MAKE TIME FOR HER AND TIME FOR THE FIREHOUSE TO AND SOMETIME I TAKE HER A TO WITH ME TO THE FIREHOUSE AND NOW SHE THINK ABOUT BE A FIREFIGHTER TO NOW AND THINK AT GREAT AT SHE STARTED LIKE THING I LOVE TO DO AND I KNOW OF CHALLENGING IST IS
It was easy. I joined with him. We may not always be out on the same fires all the time, but at least when he runs out the door, I run with him.
well my girlfriend understands that im a volunteer fireman and she and I make time every week for just us.so basically just turn the pager off those type of nights and spend some time with her
All I can offer is if you can stick it out the next 3 years putting up with our duties things will taper off a bit as he learns more and gains experience like anything from relationship to FF its new and you know how that felt when you guys hooked up..nothing else is in your thoughts..its not that he doesn't think of you or vicaversa..far from it just this is NEW..Patiance is a virtue and if you let yourself be more open to what we do besides the schooling and runs you will enjoy it as well..but it is tough being a Fire,EmS ,cops wife gf bf hubby you guys are entering a new family embrace it..best i can offer oh and what saved my marriage was all above and her becoming EMS look into it
I think it will get better in time you just have to stick with it and know that he is doing something that not everybody can do as a job. It will be hard to give him the space he needs my ex-girlfriend hated me going to training night or leaving at 2 oclock in the morning to go on a call but thats why she broke it off but. All i can say is try to stick with it and be the biggest support you can cause just starting out in this job you need all the support you can get. Hope everything works out for you.
