In CA to my knowledge there aren't any fire police. Yet in NY and other states there are. Does anyone know the restrictions placed on FP/or the rights given them?

Here's a link that should clear things up.

The closest thing in California would be Fire Marshals, Fire/Arson Investigators and CalFire Prevention officers. All of these have law enforcement powers but they are more related to arson investigation, enforcement of fire codes, etc.
Thanks...
Sunnyvale, CA has a combination department that is called Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. This is a combination Fire Police Department.

Here's their webpage:

Have been hearing alot about fire police and now I know. Thanks Austin for the link. WE dont have em here. BTW
It all depends on the State you are talking about....Here in NY "Fire Police" are actually categorized as "Peace Officers"...But for the specifics you would have to go to the regs....Paul
