well aside from drugs, alcohol, and in some places tobacco products what can you not do in the firehouse? I was driving by my station today and i realized that not all stations were so lenient as mine. One of my advisers was washing his car in the bay, while some of the juniors were goofing around outside with the hoses. Does your station allow this?

Ummm Things I am not allowed to do in my department is move the emeregency vehicles thats it.... The only reason I say me is cause I am the only Teen there that helps we don't have any others.
We allow our firefighters to use the station for things similar to washing their cars. As to playing around to hoses, sounds like a recipe for someone getting hurt. We all one way or another however will have constructive water wars. We actually have one drill set up specifically for this during the summer months on a warm day. The object is to train together and learn and have fun doing it. We encourage our firefighters to be at the firehouse but to also be professional. As to what you cant do, smoking on the premises.
As a volunteer dept we are fairly relaxed. Went down and washed all the trucks yesterday. If I want to wash my car next, I can. No alcohol is on premises, but you can have a smoke in the hall and nobody cares. The people doing the work are the ones that have fun . The cheif isnt going to crack down on the few reliable members we have. If they quit helping out as much, nothing will get done.
water wars are fun we used to do training with another local dept and after it was all done we were known to have an understood war and it was a blast. here in tn they banned smoking at the hall we still do it sometimes tho.as far as things not to be done as long as we are being safe and getting work done we have plenty of fun within the boundaries
hmm lets see out here in scottsdale iv heard there not allowed to use there phone which if i was married would be complete bull crap cause i would wanna talk to my other
we have never had a cell phone problem and no offense to my advisers but they are cellualrly challenged if you know wat i mean... its just understood the phone is on silent at the least and in your pocket not in your hand.. now i know it makes us sound redneck but we have a few 18 yr old juniors and the rule is no tobacco during a meeting or training before and after is acceptable
i dont work there but my friend hes 28 he was complaining about it not me i just said i heard but other wise i do what im told
We all just have an understanding that we are to use the station respectfully. If we need to we can use it for minor vehicle repairs and to wash our POVs but we are to leave it in better condition than we found it. The personal use of the station is a privilege and not a right so it can be taken away at any time.

No drinking, no smoking. Drugs? You'll be in another building. We are expected to behave in such a manner that we won't antagonise the public. Professional on the fireground, professional in public at all times. Washing our own cars? I wish - we're not even allowed to wash the trucks any more because of the drought! 'Goofing around' with hoses has to be a no-no - you want to do something with the hoses, do some training.

Certainly not aiming anything I said at you Jess, just making general statements!
We are allowed to wash our vehicles and work on them in the station. Just clean up the mess when done. Not supposed to smoke in the station but we are lax on that one. No horseplay at all. No having relations on the equipment ( Backdraft was a movie). We are expected to be professional at all times while in the public's eye. We can use the internet for personal or business reasons. We can use the station for b-day parties or family get togethers, just clean up when done.
Well let me see I can use the computer.. Answer the phone. Wash Vehicles Restock, I have a Key and Code to all the doors and Responde to the call or to the station if needed...
Oh My Gosh there you go again damnthing with that so called attitude that you accuse everyone of having...
