I need some help guys! We're talking about BLEVEs at my next dept. meeting and honestly, I don't know what one is. Of course, I know the text book definition, but as a member of a rural dept., I've never dealt with one. If you feel like sharing, Please leave your experiences with these nasty little buggers..
Stay Safe,
Michelle

We don't have such a requirement. They are pressure tested to around 300% of the working pressure when they're installed, but not after that.

We have only had a problem with the underground tanks one time that I know of.
It was a tank that was apparently so old that there wa no record that it was left when a building was torn down. Years later, a backhoe hit the tank while starting new construction.
We just protected exposures until it completely vented without any problem.
