Parade Follies ---HELP!!

So briefly...I've been hijacked onto the Parade Committee for the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association's Mardi Gras parade at their convention in Lake George this year. Because I don't know when to keep my BIG FAT MOUTH SHUT at meetings. Oh, and that "committee" ?? It's basically just me.

I've never ridden a float, let alone designed and built one. I need ideas...and I need em fast.
Anyone......? Anyone.....? Bueller.......? Bueller........?

Please keep in mind that I don't have an engineering degree and I'm a menace to society when it comes to power tools while you're suggesting float themes.

Go with something to do with FASNY, the letters in BIG and bold and add some writting to do with wearing your seat belt,

Dont forget to paint it RED !!!! Use Fire safety, put you'r gear out on it some old hose ,ladders, what we use everyday stuff . TELL your fellow FireFighters NOW they have been instructed to be part of this also . If possible with a Battery have some lights on it .

Forget the float.
Get something helium-filled.
You can hold the guide rope in one hand and your drink in the other.
Check with Acme Rentals.
Maybe they have a giant Snoopy for rent.

Some of our neighboring Depts. think of us as a little back woodsy, hillbilly types. Maybe not!! But we do have an area called HogTown, a mini golf named HillBilly Fun Park and old bar called HillBilly Heaven (aka, HogTown Inn). So we used that to our advantage and dressed like hillbillys. What a blast!! We made up an outhouse, a still (complete with fake smoke) and put on some back woods country music. All of this on a trailer, with hay, the works. FIRST PLACE, BABY!!! This was the Hudson Vally Mardi Gras Parade held in Queensbury. Use your imagination, and from reading some of your stories, you have a great one of those.
