Whats up guys? I'm looking for a 5' New York Roof hook. I was wondering if anyone had one in their possession. I am going to be making a Vulcan Hook or as some people know, a Farr Barr, I already have a haligan that I am willing to destroy.
And to make this more than a classified ad, What is your favorite tool to grab off the truck and go to work?
Mine is the 5' Vulcan Hook. I have used it a bunch of times and it has never let me down. If I do not have access to that tool a 5 or 6 foot NY hook and a haligan.
i have an idea for a new tool and i want to try to have it made i am working on a wood prototype but i dont have an idea on what to name it or the $$$$$$$$$$$$ to start production any ideas?
its a forceable entry/ breaching tool i borrowed the idea form one of my toys as a child and replaced one end of it with the spike from a halligan. it works the same way a halligan does ,just looks different
i'm sure you could understand my vagueness i'm just trying to protect my idea
Is it a bar or a hook? Do you want to call it a bar or hook? I would go with your last name as the name of the tool. As far as hot much it would cost to build I would say look for someone in your town that knows their was around some welding equipment. Ask they to build you one and you pay them. The first few might cost more then what you would want them to but you will have to have a few of them made. Because once the first one is made you will see what works and what dosen't work on it.
This might be the worst tool I have ever used. Too short to use as a true hook, the hook gets in the way for a good swing, and not really a good tool for prying. But these are just my feelings on it.
For me it depends on where I am riding. If I am driving the truck I usually end up with the 6' NY hook. It works great on the roof and when I end up inside for over haul. If I am riding it depends I will have either the Irons, a 6' NY hook with a can, or a 4' boston wall hook with can. If I am in my car responding as the chief I take my big boy bar. It's a 36" bar I love that tool.
