Ours went out somtime around 12:30 right as we were begining a poker game it was a first though and somthing ive been trying to push for some training on but alas I get ignored and this is what happens. So normally we recive constant alarm activations from this huge hotel next to our towns main attraction a ski slope well here the situation elevator rescue the bad part is not one person in our company has any idea on elevators, this is what happens when you ignore a problem that will show up sooner or later, well took us about an hour but we finally were able to sucessfully extricate the people trapt. The only thing that really got me on this call was when I walked through the door (a little late came from a town over) I said exactally what to do very clearly and am ignored and after an hour they do it that way without a glance at me o well so intresting call for our new year how about everyone else?

Car fire on a highway near us. happened to be on the border between three towns so it was an interesting operation, but it worked well.
Ours was the last call for 2008 and the first for 2009. At 2125 hours we were toned out for a reported house fire. First chief on scene reported a 2 1/2 frame going good, and became fully involved before we got first water on it. Defensive attack only. Balloon frame construction, total loss, yadda yadda yadda. Temperature 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Eight fire companies were involved but nobody brought hot dogs or marshmallows. Everything froze.

Got to bed at 0500. Happy New Year!
Nothing as of yet today but last year went out with a bang. (pun intended)

Had a MVA last night at about 1030pm. Call came in as a MVA, snowplow vs building with partial building collapse.

The driver of the plow suffered minor injuries but the 10' x 10' gaping hole in the side of a classroom at the local high school will be a while to fix.
Our old year ended and new year started with Fire. We were toned to the Keys for a fire at a famous 200 room hotel or lodge. We had 3 companies there from 1030 to 0730.
AFA. The rest was a blur, we are on call #14 since midnite last night and it is now just about 1800 hrs. on 1/1/09
05:50, house fire. One fatality. Not all fun and games, is it?
we had a grass fire at 1455 1/1/09 it was about 2acres
We had an mutual aid ems call, and we had to roll it, because we didnt have a provider. We run out as a first responder when our local ambulance.... not sure what the call was even about.
havent had a call since christmas eve......
Haven't had a run yet... That's suprising.

Our last run of last year was a 1070 structure, 1 story wood frame. Fuse box on the outside and meter base shorted out. Fire contained to outside of the structure, kitchen, and attic. The entire house was wired with old knob and tube wiring and the residents were heating with space heaters overloading the fuse box.

Our first run of last year was a 1070 structure, 1 story wood frame. Wood burner caught the wall on fire. Fully involved upon arrival, 2 toddlers entrapped in the back bed room. The roof collapsed on 2 of our fire fighters attempting rescue. Miraculously, no one was injured. A little smoke inhalation on the kids, but they were okay. The fire fighters were able to crawl out from under the roof and get the kids out of the room through a window. That was a rough start to last year. For a fairly small department, with a small area, 2 sq mile w/2800 people we had a big year last year. 328 runs, 37 of those were structure fires, 3 were MVA's the rest were medicals.
Our last call of the year was mutal aid to another dept for a chimney fire.We got to the tone at 1130 on 12/31/08 and cleared at 130 01/01/09.So does that count as the first call of the year??
we had an ems at 3:15 or so for a 20 y/o/f etoh with cold exposure (it was in the negitive degrees here with the wind chill last night/this morning- i love NY!)
