I haven't seen this topic covered here, and I was looking to get anyone's thoughts on it. I was wondering if there is anything to prevent fogging on a Firefighter's mask. I know that there are liquids that you can put on a S.C.U.B.A. mask to prevent fogging, but that's S.C.U.B.A. diving and not firefighting. If there isn't anything like this for our masks, what would the same stuff that divers use do for us. I know that it's made for divers and I understand that they don't have to deal with the radiant heat aspect or what that might do to a substance applied to the inside of the mask. Just looking to see if anyone knows anything about this.

I must have touched a nerve... Something I described huh? Oh yeah I left out a firefighter who was riding right front seat playing "officer" trying communicate an arrival report from inside the truck while wearing a donned scba mask.
Does spelling out (Bullsh_t) make it any less disrespectful? Not really but No BS needed for any of my examples given. Little guys name was Kylan Adams. I will never forget the kid... You wanna know how I know FOG was an issue with many, they brought it up during the CISD.
I wish that i could get a new mask but right now being the rookie i get all the hand-me-downs. Any ideas on how to maybe "clean-up" some of the scratches?
I've used Rain-X on the old mask we use to have. Our new mask have nose cups inside and that has taken away any fogging problem. I heard use spit, wipe the inside with a dollar bill , wipe the inside with baby oil . So you'll just have to try any thing that has been posted. I've tried to get my people not to go on air until the get ready to make entry.
You know, the best thing i have found that works and as weird as it sounds. Spit in it and rub it around. i dont mean one the size of a softball, just a little and it works. it does not burn and the heat does not effect it as long as it dries.
They make anti fog stuff but it aint worth a flip and can cause irritation.
