To everyone out there,
Thank a veteran. Fly flags at half staff for all that has been given to keep our country free. Understand, that though some conflicts may be contested within our own nation, the sacrifices that these brave men and women have made should not be.

I wanted to add that I am not requesting this for myself. I just want to make sure that others get their due. Many do not understand that a simple "thank you" can make a veteran's day. It is very humbling to have someone that you don't know come up to you and simply say thank you. Understand that many also look at it as "I was just doing my job" which might cause modesty in a response.
This website and many others in fact all others where made possible from the sacrifice of a few good men. Today 11/11/08 is Veterans Day and all my fellow Veterans get a huge thank you for your committment to our country and for paying the price of freedom. To those who have already thanked us we say your welcome and for those who see us today Thank a vet. Remember Freedom isnt Free and All Gave some some Gave All are not just words our military members from the past and present deserve all your support.

My father served in WW II. He died in 1992.
He has a brick at the local veteran's memorial. He has a flag pole at the cemetery where he is buried.
I think about him every day.
I carry his Army issued Bible with his picture and unit patch in it. It is a small olive drab zip up Bible. It fits very easily in my coat pocket.
Thanks to all the veterans.

thanks for the post alot of people just dont understand what veterans day really truely means but some of us do.again thank you. GOD BLESS AMERICA.A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THE VETS. PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE.
I would like to thank all of the veterans, both living and departed, who fought to keep this country free. All gave some; some gave all.
There are three men I miss every day and especially today. My father, who served in WWII in the Army Air Corps; my uncle, who served in the 3rd Regiment in Italy and who was wounded in battle; and my father-in-law, who also saw Army service in Europe. He passed on 8 years ago today, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
If you know any veterans, it doesn't hurt to just shake their hand and say "Thank you." Do it before they're not around anymore.
