Many believe that a fire truck should be RED.
Why?
Why is red the magic color?
How was it chosen as the color of the fire service?
Are there colors out there that have been proven to be more visible?
White...??? What is I heard about white..??? Something about white helmets killing brain cells or something...??? Make a deal.....you leave our yellow trucks alone and I will forgive your misgivings with white... LOL Stay safe Brother......Paul
My fire district has had a tanker that was blue. We curently have a yellow fire engine a yellow tanker and a yellow brush truck. We also have a tanker and brush truck that are red. I have even seen a fire engine that was orange. I don't think that their are rules governing the color of fire trucks. We chose yellow for the brush truck and tanker because it matched the fire engine. The tanker and brush truck were built in house and we painted them ourselsves.
No.No.No.
Color doesn't distinguish size, unless you use different size pre-connects. We have THREE 1-3/4 pre-cons on each engine. It's less confusing for the engineer if you can tell him "up on red, cut back on green or shut down on yellow". Does that make sense? Starboard and port are great if you're sailing, but when you have top mount controls and they face the REAR of the truck, you are asking for alot if you say: "up on the left and cut back on the right", because is it his right or his left, are you talking about the left side for the rear of the truck or the front of the truck or is it right as in the opposite of wrong?
I like color stripes on the hose. It's the KISS principle at work.
Come on Paul...did you choose Yellow??? Oh wait, did you choose a department with Yellow trucks, or was it just the color you ended up with. You know you envy those of us with RED trucks...admit it!

For me fire engines are white! Not that any other color is bad.. but white is tradition at my hall. Since white is a color of purity.. and we are a dry hall.. (that's right no alcohol allowed for us).. we became known as the buttermilk gang way back in the day.. so it all kinda goes hand in hand.
