Hopefully somebody is willing/able to answer this. I plan on becoming a firefighter. My plan- I am in Explorers post 555 and am sticking with it until I graduate and maybe longer. I hear you can get internships after graduating if in the explorers. So I plan on that. Next year, I am getting my EMT through a High School program. I plan on becoming a firefighter and then getting my paramedic license through a hospital in 6 months, which I hear the fire department pays for also (according to 1 of my teachers- her husband did it) I want to have my paramedic license just to have and to be able to do more. But what High School courses, if any, and College courses do I need to take or would help me in my process of becoming a firefighter?

Please answer?! I really appreciate it.
Stay safe everyone and Thankyou! :)
(didnt know what category to put this under- think I'll get more answers in a different one, plz let me know) Thanks!

Math(algebra): pump calculations, friction loss, drug calculations, formulas, etc. Biological sciences; anatomy and physiology, chemistry: usefull for all kinds of things, some obvious and some not. Combustion and flash points, chemical reactions, Haz-Mat stuff also.

Physical fitness is always a good idea and I would have to say psychology, for dealing with people in general and the obnoxious co-workers you will undoubtedly have:-)
ok..thankyou
YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A CPR/AED CARD WHICH I THINK YOU CAN DO THAT IN HEALTH CLASS ALSO YOU NEED TO KNOW MEASUREMENTS ( MATH) GEOMETRY AND HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS ( SPEECH) ALSO GOOD COMPREHENTION ( ENGLISH)
If your gona find a 6 month Medic course your one lucky person, Ive been in the medic program for a year and still have another year to go.
Can you really be classed as a "Paramedic' after only a six month course? We used to have that, years ago, a short course with the Ambulance Service followed by on the job training. Now it's a three year University degree plus clinicals.
Most colleges have a fire science program. That will give you almost everything you need. In HS I'd take a lot of math, physics, and anatomy for the EMS side of it.
