To safely store our K-12's (circular saw), and leaving room for our blower and fire extinguishers... we ended up fabricating an angled metal storage device for the rear compartment of all of our Type I Engines, which are all KME's and is shown above. We had to make our own, how do you do it?

There are many ways such equipment is stored on all the different makes, types and versions of our vehicles. The following are the methods on the vehicles in my Brigade.

These are the small PPV and generator on a sliding tray on our pumper:

The extinguishers on the pumper:

Small generator, PPV and extinguishers on the Support.

Him Mike, we do it pretty much the same way, but ours is in the rear of the truck and are deep enough for the k-12 to sit down. We also have a bracket for it so its secure in case of a rollover.
Hey Tony, Great photo but unable to open either of the links. Is the red thing on the right a blower or generator? Do you carry circular rescue saws for forcible entry?
got a photo T.J.?
Unfortunately our department solved these problems in their own unique way - they simply don't give us fans, saws or water extinguishers :(
I'll get you one in a couple of days Mike:)
We carry our k-12 blower and chainsaw in the back compartment of our pumper it has a roll up door. I welded ubolts and we simply hook a strap on it to hold them. On our mikni pumper we only carry a chainsaw and fits perfectly in one of the side compartments without any modifacations. If its bad enough and we have to carry a saw on our tanker (75 chevy 6500 no tool boxes) we simply put it in the floor board. On the back bumper of all our trucks we carry a fire extinguisher and water cannon in brackets.
we have a compartment that is dedicated to the K-12 saws and a compartment that is for the vent fan. Then we just found space for the extinguishers....
Why dont you have any of this stuff? I can understand not having a k-12 but everydept needs a fan and fire extinguishers.
In many areas, to prevent double ups of equipment and excessive spending by some brigades, specialist equipment may be located at one station which is then on call for the area/region if required- PPV may be one of those.

Also many areas here in Oz, just don't get the structure fires to warrant spending the money on PPV fans.
The 'red thing' on the right is a small generator. Could be seen as a blower couldn't it! There's a larger, 4.5 kVa genny on the other side - you can just see it's blue fuel tank. There was a circular saw on board, but somebody broke it. We're about to purchase a new one and it'll be put where the blue oxygen kit is, there's a small aluminium frame there to stop it sliding and it''ll be held down by webbing straps.

The four portable fire extinguishers on the Support are water, dry chem, CO2 and foam. The Pumper carries dry chem and foam (in the tilting holders you can see) and a CO2 in another locker (compartment to most readers).

What links Mike? The three photos are on my photo page if you can't see them properly.
The only thing I'm not a fan of (mind the pun!) is the first aid/oxy bag being stored in the same locker as fuels or fuelled equipment. (Bottom picture)

I've had issues in the past with fumes- not nice to pull out a mask and slip it on and cop a lung full of the smell of fuel....
