Right on, Tom! My other job is for a fire equipment supplier also, and I almost fell out of my chair when I read that part about "acceptable" leakage! Whoever the person is that told them that is not only NOT doing his job, but putting firefighters at risk! Hopefully, they're not in the fire equipment industry, because I'm sure there would be alot of leaking fire extinguishers & SCBA cylinders out there! Stay safe!
The M7 hud on the MSA SCBA's are again using AAA batteries. Three of them in fact. However the ICM & lights are being powered by 4 C batteries that are on the frame of the SCBA.

The company I work for sold our first M7's almost a year ago so I have not had a chance to do the annual test on them. From talking to the salesman they have not had any bad feedback regarding the batteries.
We have MSA and DRAGGER air packs...we was having a problen with batteries and we called sunbelt and they told us to use duracell batteries cause they last longer...since then we have had no trouble
We use bunny rabbit batteries and change out twice a year.
You bring up a good point I forgot to mention Don. I always recommend that the fire department change the batteries out twice a year. If we tell the public to change the batteries in their smoke detectors twice a year then doesn't it make sense for us to change the batteries in our air packs twice a year?

At the very least check the batteries in the air pack every 6 months. I mean remove the batteries and check them on a battery tester. Not just turning the pack on and waiting to see if the low battery indicator goes off.
