Hi,
I have been a volunteer firefighter in Western Australia for 5 years now. Interested in meeting other vollies from around the world to find out information about other countries firefighting operations.
I'm not sure what some of yor terms are but hello from Arkansas,USA.I'm guessing that you folks have alot of wildland fires. We are reaching the peak of our fire season here, most major incidents are in the mountain states now but we expecting record fires in the midwest this year.
Hi,
I am located in Wickham which is 1800 km northwest of Perth (in the Pilbara). I have been a vollie for 5 years now and love every minute of it. We train every week (Monday's) and we always do three different aspects of FF each month.
We also have a lot of bush and scrub fires here due to the temperatures. We hit 50 degrees celcius in summer and our low in winter is still around 30 celcius.
Lately we have had a large number of vehicle accidents (car rollovers on gravel roads). The only problem with vehicle accidents in small country towns is that 98% of the time you probably know someone in the accident.
I love to assist with saving lives but as you know this is not always possible.
