My point exactly!
With that said, my all time favorite episode has to be when his dad had the monkey!
Absolutely hilarious.
Almost too funny for TV.

Excellent show......for entertainment purposes only!
I love Rescue Me, however I agree that the show has too much B.S. But keep in mind that "hollywood" never keeps anything realistic, especially where firefighting is concerned, (ie. Backdraft). Dennis Leary does a great job, and I think his heart is in the right place as far as his love for the Fire Service. Seriously though, I don't think there could ever be a realistic Firehouse drama. Who wants to watch us eating at the table or doing house chores, farting contests, grocery shopping, fighting over the T.V. remote, drilling...etc. The action scenes are where it's at! I think Jeff said it best, "Excellent show..... for entertainment purposes only!"
So,they're having sex and fires in other parts of the country, too?
I must move there.

For you guys looking for more realistic fire show, and can't get the fact that some of this Rescue Me stuff actually happens in firehouses, go google "The Battallion" it is a realistic show that is a webcast series, probably never see it on TV though. Doesn't show some of the real drama at some firehouses in the US, hence....boring to the average television consumer...
Art...we have sex all the time on scene.

How'd you end up in the puritanical department???

Ill send you a care package, maybe you won't feel so left out.

It's Hollywood and should be perceived as such. Backdraft, Ladder 49, and Tower Inferno all protrayed the dramatics of the fire service, all where a little far fetched, but once again its meant to be entertainment not a documentary. Oh yeah, to those of you that made a career choice based of the Hollywood firefighters, sorry to disapoint. :o)
I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that these movies/TV shows are "entertainment". I think what we're all trying to say is that it would be nice if Hollywood would try to make them a little more true to life.
It's Lame!!!!!!!
Yeah; but then who would watch it besides firefighters?
It's all about hitting all of the demographics.
If they only market to the firefighters, then box office would be 20 million bucks at the most and that is only if you can drag your significant other along to watch it.
No; the other "stuff" is there to attract a larger audience, so if it's only "firehouse stuff", then you are going to lose a bigger portion of the general public.
Don't wait for Hollywood to draw interest to your fire department.
You might have to do that at the local level where public perception is most important.
If you don't like "Rescue Me" as a recruiting tool, then don't say, "hey, to get an idea of what we do, watch "Rescue Me".
It's not that complicated, really.

I do not watch shows like that. It is make believe and only lasts an hour. When was the last car wreck you went to just an hour HAAAA more like 3 plus.
So what your saying is you watch no fictional TV shows? Right?

Lets see and 48 Hours is compressed to an Hour...totally realistic.

See, like I said earlier, the thing that drives me nuts is , everyone b**ches that there are no firefighter movies or TV shows.
Then when someone makes a movie or TV show you all want to rip it to shreds as being unrealistic.

For the love of Pete!
