i agree with chris lowe it does give firefighters a bad image and plus it shows to much drama and less firefighting
i think its a great show and it will be a show that may not be the real thing, but it does show some of ins and outs that some of us in here go thru in our daily lives. just remember they are actors, not everything has to be real for people to get the big i hope!!
Elizabeth,

The show is not souly meant for just firefighters. The plotline is meant to keep emergency services interested while drawing in an audiance who doesn't deal with the job on a daily basis as we do. (civilians) Rescue Me is just one show that isn't all the job. Look at Third Watch, the same stuff happens. (not all fire/ems related to the job)
I've never watched it... don't know when it's on, don't know what it's about... for all I know it could be another Backdraft.
I have watched it form the begining. I am not sure that the show reflects true to the letter as far as Fire DEpt Polotics and operations (FDNY). But I enjoy it. They could spend less time on all the sex and more on the fire and accident scenes. However to imply the "Tommy" character ahs some isusues with communication, addiction and self preservation those things could be eluded to as they are real problems for some people. Also the show is fiction.. Consider the Sopranos, I do not hear a lot of compalints about that show and it is not a documentary either. But otherwise I enjoy the show.
I like the show rescue me. It is funny and entertaining but it does not show how real fire departments run.
My opinions about the show are well documented.
People like it; people hate it.
The ONE thing that you cannot argue is that Denis Leary has a deep love and respect for firefighters and if he thought for a minute that he was putting a product out there that was a detriment, he'd pack up and move to a desert island.
One look at how much money the Leary Foundation has contributed and you need not look any further to know where Leary's heart is.
People are jealous for that.
I love the man.
And if he ever gets any closer than New York, I will see him.
TCSS.

aside from loving that they filmed some if it at my firehouse...the storylines sometimes hits too close to home....i like the show
its situation drama (involving firefighters) like the label in turnout geer..not intended to be really about firefighters...but is.
I can't believe the number of people posting, how it is all fiction and gives the fire department a bad name... Do you read the posts from people who are close or closer to the show or Dennis?

The story lines are drawn up from previous experiences in the FD, especially the FDNY. I understand people feel this is bad for the overall image of maybe YOUR fire department, but the issues that are portrayed in the shows are REAL.

BTW tonight 10pm EST, mini-sode to hold you over of RESCUE ME, on FX
u da man west....damn i need genos or pats....pats---no genos---no pats definetaly pats--"with"--send it to me in FL---BTW love the show...its entertainment
well said brother. personally i love the show. it's great. it is just that....a show, BUT, does it not portray a sense that is in all of us. how we deal with the things we see, not always positiveily. The day im not bothered by an M.V.A. with multiple fatalities involving people is the day i retire from the service.
just a lil tid bit to think about before everyone bashes the show unfairly.
