At 10:25 GFD was toned out for a reported still alarm at 2441 Central Ave, 137 being first on scene advised of light smoke showing. The crew from Engine 12 made entry and knocked the fire down quickly. The resident and her small child made it out safely, crews remained on scene for about 30 minutes cleaning up. Great job by GFD 3rd turn. February 26, 2010.

Well that was very interesting. If the windows next to the front door had been opened it would have taken some of the pressure off the front door and made entrance easier. The man with no ppe on if he was a ff he should not be thier, but since he was he needed to open the back door fully and take out all the windows not just the one. I have seen this at to many fires lately. one of the cheapest things to break on the fire ground is a window. Vent, enter search, extinguish. Those are the rules of fire fighting. REMEMBER THEM !!!!!

What is this guy thinking, trying to vent a window with no turnout gear, no PPE what so ever. So much for safety first.

Looks like a great knock down and a job. But I see we still are trying to kill our selfs by being at a doorway and also venting w/no PPE? I understand the person was "helping" but why do we keeping seeing this ? do we not learn from past incidents?

Great job by the guys in PPE but to all the guys in station ware ,stay on the truck ,don't ventilate or approach the doors unless wearing turnouts and SCBA. We keep repeating this I don't know why.
