Firefighter Falling During Saving Your Own Training

From YouTube: Firefighters performing a quick below grade rescue on one of their own. While being removed the trapped firefighter falls and lands hard on the SCBA bottle. Please be careful when training and wear all protective equipment.

Comment by FETC on April 28, 2009 at 1:40pm: Serious Training breeds Serious Results... This is no laughing matter, clearly this guy could have suffered a career ending injury or worse. I know someone who fell during saving our own training and is now paralyzed. So train as if your life depended on it.

This technique is taught everywhere, though not exactly like this.

The hoseline would be much more rigid and stable for the firefighter being raised if they were to use the appropriate charged hoseline and not a dry one.

Comment by Brian Nolan on April 6, 2009 at 4:40pm: Where is the outer shell of his helmet? The helmet looks incomplete and not compliant. Also no one checked his cylinder for damage at the time of the fall.
