Close Call Video: Wall Collapses on San Francisco Firefighter

In this close call video, at about the 1:18 mark, the wall collapses on top of a firefighter. He walked away with a broken leg and other non life-threatening injuries, extremely lucky.

As I was watching this I noted the wind direction and the direction of the fire. I'm not very experienced, coming up on five years in this year, but I thought it didn't look right. Hot fire pushing left of the frame with crews putting cold water on the outside of the same wall to the right. Imagine what that wall must have been doing, hot on one side, cold on the other, all brick construction...

That could have been so much worse than it was.

Glad the brother is OK, but, cold this have been prevented??? How many then entered the collapse area immediately after???? anyone show discipline to maintaiin safety???? Should he have been there in the first palce?????

I do not mean to sound heartless, but we must look at this as with many other close calls and re-assess hhow we operate. In the BIG PICTURE, we must ALL get home alive to our familes. Review with you membership and use as valuable drill material

Wow I'm glad to read that he will recover with no injuries.I've seen a brother firefighter fall through a floor.And all he got was sprained ankle.Got better bro and go back to fighting fires
