A Tribute to IAFF Labor Leader Mike Lass & J. Dale Berry

Without the sacrifices of Mike Lass and J. Dale Berry, Illinois fire departments may not have contracts, or unions. Our cities, in particular Chicago and Evanston would not have adequate fire protection. Mike Lass has cancer and is in his last days.

Comment by Larry Taggart on May 16, 2010 at 11:58am: Mike was one of the first people that our small local met when we started out to get recognization from our village. We were a small lacal in La Grange but Mike spent many hours helping us out with our first several contracts. He brought a stability to our union that carries on today. Dale berry came in to assist with binding artribution that we had with the village about who was in the union and who was out. Althought we lost he did his best. My prays and that of my family go out to Mike's family.
