i just saw some thing else in that made it even better
the guy runs up and hands him a yellow helmit i dont know what it means where you are from but here in GFFC it yellow means you have not gone through FF1 (jr.s and probys) it the same is true there he should not be on that line.

We fight how we train. I wonder what the median IQ is between the dimwit throwing rocks at his car and the civilian (or is that a FF....hard to tell) with the fire hose. Even the firefighter with 3/4 of his total PPE didnt even have what he had on secured. It doesnt matter what the circumstances are behind it. Even when we go out for weekly road tests, we always carry our gear because you never know when you're going to come across a car fire with it's owner throwing rocks at it.

Always wear your full PPE when approaching the hazard zone at a fire- dumpster, car, or structure. Don't be complacent (lazy) and get injured when you can be protected! See the car fire/explosion video at http://youtube.com/watch?v=dWSdY1K5fOs We had a similar incident in Seattle (the fireball was about half the size) that engulfed the engine crew approaching with the hoseline; they were wearing all their gear- ZERO injuries, and the car fire was put out. DON'T BE LAZY!!!

Anne Potter: you know they came upon this while doing inspections at homes, this was not a call out..so my guess is the thought was to reduce further damage.. unsure why the guy in full turnout stood there.. . it's wrong ,but that is what happen
Doesn't matter what they were out doing! The simple fact remains-Wear your PPE! It takes all of 30-60 secs to put your SCBA on.
Yes, we used to fight vehicle fires without our B.A.'s on-me included. However, we just can't afford to be stupid anymore! I have had to get a chest Xray every year for the last 5 yrs since they found "spot" on my lungs from firefigthing. I am 40 y/o. come on kids, wear your gear!
Just ask the So.Ca. FF who just went through a double lung transplant because he did not wear his B.A. when he was a younger fireman! There is case after case on why we do this. If you are claustraphobic when wearing, maybe its time to re-think what your doing in this career or better, start training with on more often. Your life really depends on this. Furthermore, you owe it to yourself and family to do the right thing!
I'm just saying......
