well you need to look at risk vs gain. i would look and see how long the building been burning and the type of building that is burning. we have to carry our water to the scene. do you have eniugh people on scene. we already worked fires with 10 to 12 people and we get the job done. i just think a good officer on scene will make that call. even if the house does go down we make sure that we are spraying water with at less one hose. the media will see that you are working and not standing around. if you know it's going to the ground you are just there doing PR work. that's really all people want to see you doing. every fire deptment has there rules on how to handle these fires. as long as you stay within the rules i really thinh you will be ok. church fire are really hard to fight because of all the wood inside and most churchs been around a long time. always think safety we didn't cause the problem and we are there to fix it and then go home to your familys and friends.

Definately a surround and drown while protecting other exposures.

Save the Coca Cola Machine. This would be a classic surround and drown scene. Nope your not going to commit to stripping your resources for this call but to keep it from going anywhere else and protect exposures. To not do anything and let it burn would definitely be something to have to explain to your community.
