Top Issues Facing Responders:
I believe Haz-Mat is going to be a problem, because it is increasing more and more. Some towns and cities have no idea what is actually being transported through it's community. Look at all the trucks and trains traveling across the U.S. L ike the old saying goes if you keep playing with fire your going to get burned. It's just a matter of time.
My name is Mark Trotter. I'm a Corporal with the Rome and Floyd County Fire Department. I've been with my department for just over 5 years now. Me along with 5 others make up our Haz-Mat Commity. We are in the process of creating our Haz-Mat Respose Team. We had to write the SOG's for the team and it's all starting to come together. I'm going to school to get Associates Degree in Fire Science. I've been attending school for 2 years now. I take some of the classes on-line and attend the others in the class room. I'm very active with in my department and proud of what I do. I have many other certifications for attending other classes on my days off. I also have my CPR Instructors Certification to help the training department with re-certing our 143 +/- employees. After I get my degree, I'm looking at attending EMT or Nursing School, because medical calls make up the majority of our calls and I think the fire and ambulance service will be combined in our area before to long. That about sums it up. I would be glad to answer any other questions that any one may have, please just ask. I would like to say hats off to all my brother and sister firefighters out there and you all be safe and have a great day.

No, I am pretty sure he said it would be a morning class. The book is awesome, one of the best of all of the classes. In case you don't know it is the Fire Officer's Handbook of Tactics, 2nd edition by John Norman
