Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations
My department along with four other departments in Cumberland County make up Team 500. Team 500 or TROT Team (Technical Rescue Operations Team) can be called out to neighboring Counties for Trench Rescues, Confined Space Rescues, Stucture Collapse, etc. Team 500 is 100% volunteer. We have not gotten alot of calls but we have great training events and look forward to serving our area in these capacities.
My Training:
Interior qualified, BVAR Awarness, HAZMAT Awarness, Elevator Awarness, NIMS, Trench Awareness, Trench Operations, CPR/AED Infant and Adult.
About Me:
I have been interior qualified for 1 year and received that training at Harrisburg Area Community College. I would eventually like to get a paid position possibly in Maryland. I am also serving my second year as Adminstrative Secretary for my company.
Day Job:
Chronsiter Landscaping

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Wanted to be part of something greater than myself and give back to my community. Once I joined, I knew it was were I belonged and now I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
When the pager goes off and you don't know what you will be getting into.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
For those of us in Cumberland County, Pa it is definately getting the kinks out of the 800mhz system. Otherwise I believe it is retaining active members in a society that is so "self" oriented.

Awake and Sick

Posted on February 5, 2008 at 3:36am 0 Comments

I have had this crap that is going around for 5 days now. I have slept more in the last 5 days than I did in a long time. It is 3:30am and I am wide awake. I have missed a couple of calls due to being under the weather. I really hate when that happens. Anybody got any advice for kicking the cold/flu? I have been trying to keep hydrated and eat…

I loooved Pheonix. My mom's job transferred us to Columbus when I as in high school. I want to go fight fires in Cali, ideally. Looks like you're just as sick as I am, I haven't gotten out of bed in exactly five days either. I don't have any advice, but if anyone tells you anything good send it my way. I've drank so much Gatorade and Theraflu in the past week but nothing feels like it is helping.
