About Me:
My name is Brent Haskin. I have been a volunteer in the fire service since 2001. I now hold the rank of Training Officer for Norwich Township Fire Department, located in Missaukee County, Michigan. Currently, I am certified as Fire Officer III and also as an EMT Basic. Upon completion of the EMT Basic program, I signed up for Paramedic classes. I will complete my Paramedic course in December of 2008. In addition, I am also enrolled at Delta College in their Fire Science/BBA Program. I will have two Associates Degrees in Fire Science completed in August of 2008, at which time I will continue to take classes towards a Bachelors in Business Administration. I have a strong desire and willingness to gain more knowledge and insight related to the fire service. In November of 2003, I opened up a The UPS Store franchise, and I am the Owner/Manager. In my spare time, I am devoted to the family farm. On our 600 acre farm we raise Angus cattle and also raise alfalfa and corn for cash crops. I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors, especially golf and archery. Other hobbies of mine include; reading, learning, playing the piano, almost anything musical and spending time with my friends and family.
Day Job:
The UPS Store
Relationship Status:

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
To be a team member of an organization that had the good of the public in mind, for camaraderie, and personal growth.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The sense of team, the sense of pride, and the sense of accomplishment.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Funding, training opportunities, not enough new blood/ideas, too much emphasis on diversity and not enough emphasis on quality recruits regardless of Sex, Age, Race, or Gender. Too many hoops for volunteers to jump through which limits the amount of recruits available.

Not dumb at all...we got him from the pound assuming he was a dalmation mix but went to a dog obedience class and the instructor assured us he was an Australian Cattle Dog aka. "Blue Heeler". We quickly realized she was right went he started herding EVERYTHING. Very loyal dog but very afraid of thunderstorms due to their sensitive hearing!
