G'day Chad,
All good where i am, but Victoria's having a bad time with bush fires. where is Belmont near? i have Uncles in Union Beach NJ! i was actually born in Monmouth County Hospital in Long Branch. BUT i'm NOT American, i'm an Aussie!!!
Hi Chad,
Things are really tight budget-wise, not just for OFPC, but their budget cuts are resulting in a dramatic cut in training. You're going to start seeing some of the statewide associations and organizations banding together to find and fund training, but there's only so much we can do.
My reccomendation to you would be to look into applying for a FEMA grant--and hiring yourself some state instructors to get the training you need if you get the grant cash.
You know, last weekend when we were supposed to get the ice and snow it never arrived after a much hyped prediction. This time, we got nailed on Weds with little fanfare. Temp now is -10, kids are out of school for the second day...tomorrow supposed to be 26, a heat wave, lol...
no actually I am working in public safety (fire and police) I just happen to have to go by RDU and they took me on a tour and took me out on the runway to flow some water and it was really interesting. You don't even have to get out to fight fire. It was great
Thank you!! not much going on here either. Just came up to the station to see some people and the engine and ambo are gone. Must have missed a call. Oh well not the first and certainly not the last. Stay safe!
thanks for the concerns. We had a bit of a slow season. our A crew was in california for 30 days on the Soda Complex, which I joined them for the last 9 days. A crew was called out again to a fire in southern Oregon. B crew was called out twice, once for a fire near Roseburg, OR and Sisters, OR, I was present at both. Our engine was in Califoria on the Iron complex for 14 days and did a couple patroling missions in sourthern washington. I think it was a bad season, both in the way that civies see it and the way wildland FF's see it.
were you out there at all this summer? if so how was your season, hopefully you had a slightly better season.
thx for the add. the photos that you see in my page are the equipment in service and not in service. I wanted to put a bit of everything to make people see our situation. But if they are sincere, I must say that your trucks are very beautiful
