Hey Captain Bob- I just joined the website and saw the back page about favorite firefighter books. I live in Malibu, spent 3 years with LACoFD and CalFire preparing a novel about a boy who comes of age as a wildland firefighter at a helitak camp (Camp 8 LA County). The book has been well received and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman of the LACoFD liked it enough to send it to the County Board of Supervisors.
Perhaps you would enjoy reading it. The title is One Foot In the Black. You can buy it on Amazon or, if you buy it from the online store of the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, they get the profits. http://wffoundation.org/webstore/index.html.
You can see reviews from firefighters on my website

Let me know what you think of it.
Thanks, stay safe – Kurt Kamm
