So I am starting a blog out of sheer boredom (which I will explain later.)
On the fire side of things, It was pretty quiet except for monday.
We were toned out for a possible structure fire at a car dealership. When I heard the dispatcher sign on and blow out all those numbers ("Dispatching Engine 402, 404, 405, Rescue 406, Truck 422") I knew it was going to be something "good" but when he said it was a car dealership I thought to myself "oh...s***." Frankly I am not a fan of vehicles inside of structures (fire wise.)
I pulled up to the firehouse just in time to miss the apparatus leaving. (with paid drivers, during the day, this is a common occurrence.) Another fireman pulled up around the same time as me and seeing as I knew parking would be limited, I decided to hop in with him.
As we came closer to the dealership, we didn't see a column of smoke, but it went out over the radio that there were injuries. This made me think that either it was worse than I thought or that maybe it was an explosion.
We pulled up on scene to find that contractors had been tarring the roof and that had started a fire on the roof. This fire was quickly extinguished by pulling a line up the ladder and just putting it out. No terrible damage to the structure. The injury reported over the radio was smoke inhalation by one of the contractors.
That's really all that's happened to me fire-wise this week.
Our annual Christmas tree sale was a success. We sold 750 trees in just over a week.
As for my massive boredom, the hotel that I work at has shut down for the holiday season. They saw fit to leave people here working (mainly just to answer the phones.)
Now I am stuck here for 8 hours with little to no human contact outside of the internet.
Here's what I need from FFN. I would love to hear from pretty much anybody out there on pretty much anything. Whatever passes the time, so send me a message/text/IM/smoke signal and let me know what's going on.
Thanks, Stay Safe, and have a happy holiday season.
