Well my first training excercise went great. Everybody seemed to enjoy it. We smoked up a house and run search and rescue missions. It was something a little different then what we had been doing in the past. I am just trying to get members interested in training again. Alot of people think book work is boring and I pesonaly learn more with hands on training. So all in all it was a great first training day for a new T.O. The best part for me was that I hade more than one member thank me for the training. They said they really enjoyed.

Good job. You now have an awesome responsibility. You are a leader. You are responsible for the level and effectiveness of the service you and your dept. will provide. With this, take it serious. VERY serious, and continue to strive for improvement. It is not an easy task, but rewarding.
My quote for you: Train not til you get it right, train until you don't do it wrong.
Be safe. Good Luck!

Darrin , I too became a new training officer this year, and it feels good to get positive feedback from the crews. congrats and good job. now it's time to plan the next one. I've been trying to do building blockswith our training . basically each drill builds on the last. did the search and rescue drill, then next time, incorporated FF mayday's and FF survival . next one is searching large enclosed structures on a search line
