Well today started off at around 0700 i heard the phone ring twice but i was sleeping so at around 0930 i got up to see who had called. TO MY GREAT SURPRISE one call was from the Jacksonville Fire Department (JFD) and I about shitted myself because i really didn't expect to hear from them, so i was jumping for joy. When I called the second number thinking its probably someone else at JFD trying to get a hold of me( but i didn't realize at first the area code was different) ...... I WAS WRONG the phone is answered the woman on the other end says fire department, I felt kinda stupid asking, but honest to god I didn't know what fire department it was so I asked which fire department it was and she said Blytheville so at this time I am now about as happy as a tornado in a trailer park. I was put on hold and the next person i spoke with was the Assistant Chief. He asked if i could come in today around 1300, so i said sure. Got down there and ended up speaking with him for almost two hours, I thought he seemed pretty cool after listening to him and asking questions. So now I have to go back down to Blytheville next week as well as Jacksonville. All I have left for JFD is to take the physical, medical, and question part so yay (well maybe) and i have to be there at 0800 so ill probably leave the house at around 0430 stop get breakfast and drive on. Well I hope and pray I get one of these jobs. I am about to go crazy.... Yesterday we ran on a few calls at around 1200 we respond me in squad :) a captain and ff in E-31 I was first to arrive at a multi-dept fire call Egypt which we cover half as well as Cash. I radio to dispatch wood shop fully involved. At the time however I didn't notice the home to my left was also on fire due to the radiant heat as well as the wind direction. The other call in which I ran on was mva/fire a vehicle was in an accident and involved in fire, due to the location at in which the car was on fire sparked a brush fire which myself and another fire fighter successfully extinguished with Brush-34 I did all of the work lol, I had the Fire fighter pull into the field in our 4x4 brush truck and i walked along side as he drove, so now I have a good portion of the fire out and grab fire flaps ( i know...) the fire wasn't big or out of control at this point. Well all-in-all a couple of good days id think:D
