Okay kids... Who doesnt like a good ghost story???

After watching an episode of SciFi's now famous tv show; Ghost Hunter's, I started to think about all the spooky things that go on at my firehouse. I could tell you how radios turn themselves on and off, doors open and close when no one is around, and emergency vehicle lights turn on without anyone even being in the truck. I could tell you all of those things... but they wouldn't be true LOL.

Despite the fact that I think it would be awesome to walk into the bay and see an apparition gearing up and jumping onto one of the trucks... I havnt seen one speck of evidence to prove my firehouse is haunted. However; I'm sure some of you have some great experiences or stories about the paranormal that you would like to share. So... Let's hear em! Give me the best firehouse ghost story youv'e got!!!!

Great blog idea! I've watched Ghost Hunters for a couple years now and I remember the episode you're talking about. FireRescue magazine actually interviewed Chief Fontaine from the Harris Fire Department, the famed "haunted firehouse" in Rhode Island. According to the chief, people hear footsteps on the stairs and see strange movements and shadows; one person even claims to have woken up and seen an apparition at the foot of the bed. You can read the entire article in the October 2005 issue (p. 35).

It seems the older the building, the more chances for activity, so those of you who work in a century-old firehouse might want to keep your eyes and ears open. :)

I was never a big believer in sightings until it happened to me. An old captain died in one of our stations many years ago. His spirit has been rumored to still appear from time to time. Doors opening and closing, lights on and off, noises that have no mechanical or structural origin, leave for an alarm and upon return something has been moved from the table to the floor, or from the bed to the floor. Things that wouldn't take place if it was just an off duty guy coming in to screw with you. I'd even heard about someone or something being seen in the station. All bogus or so I thought.
I was sitting in the chair "training" one afternoon when someone came up the stairs and walked past the doorway to the lounge. I hopped up immediately and followed around the corner. You guessed it! No one, nothing, nada! The hall that the "person" went down was empty. I thought I was "over training" so I went back to the dorm. Captain in his room, Lieutenant in his. That left me. Everyone accounted for, the downstairs doors all closed and locked, no off duty guy's car in the parking lot.
I'm a believer now.
I have no reason to embellish or make anything up.
May Norm rest in peace! (and quit bothering me during "training" time particularly when "training" occurs right after lunch)

One night during training, a week or two ago, we were sitting in the office, and i was signing in, and everyones pager goes off, of course it was a MVA. Car over the median. So everyone rushed out, leaving me at the station.. Aloneee. I went up into the bay while everyone was gearing up, and when the last truck left the bay door closed
and i turned around quick and the door from the bay down to the hallway slammed shut.
And guys, i mean, it SLAMMED Shut, right in front of me..
'twas weird.
I dont know if i'd call it paranormal... but chyeah
