Feburary of 2009 I had to go to the Hospital and the Doctors run several tests and kept me over night and around 7am the next morning the Doctor came in and told my wife that my tests came back and my Heart is very weak and it has enlarged they call it Cardiomyopithy or C.H.F and to be able to survive cardiac resusitation the heart strength has to be at least 35% and mine was at 15% and my duties at the FD were light duty and I was given the safety officer job and driver after a year my heart hasnt improved so the Heart Doctor had to place a single lead Defibulator in my chest now because of that Im now unable to resume my duties and had to make a choice so I steped down and requested my Chief if I could become a supprt staff member and stay active by doing some PR work for the dept and now Id like to say Thank You to everyone for there Prayers and Please keep me in your prayers?

Kenny, after reading that long long sentence, it is amazing our hearts and lungs don't simply explode on the spot. lol I had to stop and take a few deep breaths lol
You have a similiar situation to mine, and I wish you the very best of luck. My biggest mistake, was I too turned in my resignation from the dept. under the premise that I would no longer be of any use to the dept. It turns out that I was wrong, and I did not die, as expected, and now I miss the work terribly. Even though I can't do physical stuff, there is much to do within a fire dept. organization, and that should never be overlooked. The more experience, and qualifications a person has, the more he/she can contribute to the good of the dept. There are many chiefs and CAO people that need to wake up and give their heads a shake, not to mention consider what they are doing discriminatory towards the disabled.
Good luck to you and I wish you all the best of health.
