On Thursday, December 3, 2009, our community lost a long-serving firefighter and friend when Station Chief Robert Thibert passed away. Bob was born on October 13, 1954. He joined the Tilbury Fire Department on August 3, 1973.
Bob was an active and trusted member of the fire service for over thirty-six years. He was a valued and generous person, a very experienced firefighter, and the Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services and all who worked with him recognize and mourn this loss.
In his service with the Fire Department Bob:
1. Became Deputy Fire Chief in 1994.
2. Became Station Chief August 1, 2004.
3. Received the Federal Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal in 1993 and 30 year bar in 2003.
4. Received the Provincial Ontario Fire Service Long Service Medal in 1998 and 35 year bar in 2008.
Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends, as they deal with this sudden and sad loss.

The funeral service and visitation will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 32 Canal Street West, Tilbury.
