So far our brothers have been fortunate not to have suffered any serious injuries. Let us all share in the hope that until this fire is brought under control that they maintain their saefty and everyone goes home safely.

Irregardless of the casue or what portion of these horrific fires our brothers are fighting. They are putting it all on the line once again. These guys and gals just like all of us on FF Nation are the heroes of today when evrything is good. However, things go a little south and BAM it's the fire firefighters fault. My favorite is the "THEY SHOULD"E BEEN HERE SOONER" like we have nothing else going on that we drop everything to save them and their belongings. All I have to say to them is "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR A PERFECT STRANGER LATELY? WOULD YOU GET UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO SAVE SOMEONE ELSES BELONGINGS? WOULD YOU LAY IT ALL ON THE LINE REPEATEDLY JUST TO BE CRITICIZED FOR THE FACT YOU WEREN"T ABLE TO SAVE EVERYTHING." The appreciation factor of this entire country needs to be examined. This week is the National Volunteers Week, why not some of these overly critical people do something to help their neighbors. I don't know about the rest of you out there but I am not aware of one new application to my department this week!!!!! It is truly sad.

To you my brother and sisters in the fire service -> I COMMEND EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE, AND THANK YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU DO. STAY SAFE AND WE'LL SEE YOU ON "THE BIG ONE".

"The fire department said everything was OK. Now they're charging him for it," said Burni Uber, 58, who didn't know the name of the person who started the yard fire. "The story I heard is, it's really not his fault. It's sounds like the fire department's. They're the professionals. They said everything's all right." from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090424/ap_on_re_us/us_sc_wildfire

Ya have to love the stupidity of some people. Somebody is alleged to have been illegally burning, but the fire was the fire departments fault.

In addition to the forestry/wildland firefighters, there are numerous structural crews from Horry County and other parts of the state fighting these fires, with additional engine, tanker/tender, and brush strike teams on standby through the state Firefighter Mobilization system. There are also military helicopters conducting water drops with Bambi buckets.

So far there is a lot of reported property loss but no loss of life.
