Rochester Fire Department Promoted Four New Lieutenant’s today.
“This is a great day for the Rochester Fire Department and the City of Rochester,” said Fire Chief John Caufield. “We are promoting a dedicated group of individuals who will put their all into serving their community to the very best of their abilities.”
The new Lieutenants are:
Douglas Knapp: 12 year veteran of the RFD, most recently at Truck 5 (Gardiner Ave.); winner of several City of Rochester awards, including the RFD Life Saving Award in 2008; trained in several rescue specialties; holds two associate’s degrees from Monroe Community College in Fire Protection Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Michael Nolte: 16 year veteran of the RFD, most recently at Engine 5 (Lyell Ave.); is an EMS instructor; trained in several rescue specialties; holds two associate’s degrees from MCC in Fire Technology and Criminal Justice/Police Science.
Robby Villa: 10 year veteran of the RFD, most recently at Rescue 11 (Chestnut St.); New York State Firefighter of the Year (2006) and winner of RFD Medals of Valor in 2005 and 2007; trained in multiple rescue specialties; holds an associate’s degree in Building Construction from SUNY Alfred.
Michael Vinci: 18 year veteran of RFD, most recently at Engine 17 (Chestnut St.); has served as temporary officer for various companies; holds several certifications for specialty rescue; completed various coursework at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
