NYSAFC Announces Spring Seminar Series “Flashover & Backdraft – Seconds to Disaster”
Tuesday evening March 9th 19:00 at Roth Middle School 4000 East Henrietta Road Route 15 Henrietta NY
Spring 2010 Seminar Series “Flashover & Backdraft – Seconds to Disaster”
In the structure fires that we are responding to today the fire loads from the plastic contents inside are a catastrophe waiting to happen. Failure to identify the warning signs of flashover or backdraft may imperil firefighters needlessly. Firefighters trapped or disoriented inside these buildings have seconds to make the proper decision that may save their lives. It has never been more important that the basics of firefighting be accomplished in a timely manner. Improper ventilation or ventilation prior to placement of the initial line have caused many firefighter injuries and worse. Case histories will be viewed and discussed. Mayday procedures and FAST/RIT SOPs will also be reviewed.
