Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...August 16, 2009

I have wanted to write a post for weeks, but don't know what to say. I'd like to say something witty, like I'm going to the beach each weekend, or I'm sitting by a pool with a beer in my hand, but I cannot tell a lie.

While the rest of the world seems to be enjoying a great summer, or in NJ at least, I am struggling with real life issues that would have crushed another person. Yes, crushed. The fact that I know I can reach out to a team of people anytime, online and in my community, gives me the energy to take it all one day at a time.

Wish I could write more, but I don't like to complain about life.

Better days ahead for all of us.

Fondly,

Denise Broesler
Rookie Firefighter

PS I've decided in my spare time to practice my knots. Used to quilt, now I knot.

Hi Brian, I am taking one day at a time like you said. We are taking the tough parent route and no one said that it's tougher on the parents than the kid. I have had to walk away from my daughter, and it's scary but necessary. Thank you for checking on me. All I have been doing is working and mowing my lawn to get rid of some of my stress. As my first instructor at the Academy said, carpe diem (spelling??). Have a nice day!
