after a long period of waiting, my luck comes out, my employer BRITAM called me and scheduled of an interview. after that i prepared my self for that interview, i reviewed some of my firefighting books and of course i depend and i just relay on my 10 years of a volunteer firefighter here..

just for info.. here in the Philippines if you have a chance to work abroad and earn dollars you will have the respect of your family and friends not just because of the money but you will be called "BAGONG BAYANI" or new country hero because of the dollar remittance that helps our country survive. working in saudi arabia will earn me about $1600 thats a big bucks here in the Philippines it can improve the ways of living in of my family and achieve some of my dreams of owning my own car and house.

back to my story, that day of my interview im so nervous and worried because of my english speaking, well im not that good in english speaking but still im trying my very best. A Canadian firefighter"SHAWN" interviewed me and ask some question here it goes:

SHAWN: how many PSI you will give if the firefighter is in a third floor bldg.?
ME: approx. 100 to 110 psi.
SHAWN: how do you measure it?
ME: we don't have a gauge to measure it bec. our truck is an super old one.
SHAWN: but how do you know if its already 100 psi?
ME: we just rely on our radios if the nozzle man want's some more preasure then we just increase it if he cant hanndle it we decrease it.
SHAWN: hahaha (He just smile i dont know why)
SHAWN: did you ever tried to use BA?
ME: just in my trainings i know to use it well.
SHAWN: how about in fire operations?
ME: youre very lucky if you have that one in fire operation, we only use some wet towel to cover our nose..
SHAWN: (He laugh again and said) very resourceful indeed. AND CONGRATIOLATIONS YOURE HIRED.

i dont know what comes in his mind to hire me, but i promise to him that i will do my best as a firefighter.

Now ill be leaving my mother country this april 1, and again wishing for my luck to comes, i just hope that i will have a good life in two years far from my family and friends.

Congratulations Romwel. Just as Michael Vito said be sure to stay in contact with FFN. In addition to that search frequently on different firefighting topics, BUT include PPT or PDF in your searches. You will find several free "classes" people make and post online.

Congratulations ! Romwel, one piece of advice when you do get there. If you have internet access. Maintain contact with us (FFN). Don't be afraid to ask question on this forum, don't stop learning, don't stop training. Do your homework, this is a dream job. Improve yourself. The earnings you got re-invest back to books, CD's, videos, etc. I know you, your young and you have good career start and long way to go. TCSS, Mike
