Firefighters, disasters, injury, and death

Firefighters:

Guys, there are firefighters that were affected by the tropical storm and Typhoon that hit the Philippines a week ago. The last typhoon that hit us decided to stop and come back. It is now a tropical storm almost stationary and it is causing more and more rains in an already flooded area.

Disasters:

Disasters are bad and here in the Philippines we are getting pounded with rain everyday making the relief operations harder and harder. Damp clothes, mold, and lack of food and water are becoming everyday occurrences with relief operations and organizations going to one area and then the next and then the next but they are not focusing on one area to take care of people. What is happening is an organization will go to one area and then leave. A few days later, the supplies are gone and then a family has nothing again. These a families that if they evacuate they would have no where to go, the shelters are full and they do not have family on dry land so they are stuck staying in their house with no water or electric.

Injury:

Lets prevent injury.. take care of yourself and take care of others.. I change my socks at least twice a day, air out my feet, use baby powder, and keep them as dry as possible. When I am resting, I wash my foot with Alcohol to disinfect them from the nasty waters I am walking through. I am taking multivitamins and
medication to prevent me for getting bacterial infection but as or other firefighters, many are not taking anything. I aim to stop this because I do not want to see another brother of mine sick because of this disaster.

Death:

I have seen a few people in my area die from infections. This is bad, I am just happy these were not firefighters.

In conclusion:

Lets look out for each other and help out if you can. This is a time of need and its quite literally still a disaster and its not going to get any better for at least a month. If you would like to donate supplies or money for disaster relief, please let me know. I am now volunteering full time with disaster relief operations here and supplies are running so low that many people do not go out for relief operations.

TCSS everyone,

-J
