.... Back about '87, we were dispatched to a report of a dumpster fire, in the parking lot of the Rec Center at the church down the way. We responded with a Mini Pumper, the Engineer and myself. Nothing showing on arrival, we checked all of the dumpsters in the covered housing area, also the dumpsters in the park across the street, still nothing. Was then contacted by the Priest in charge, who pointed out the fire, but I didn't see it, he pointed to the 30 gallon green can in the center of the park, I looked, no smoke, the guy was pretty angry with me for questioning him. He yelled, Lookkk!!!, can't you see it now, I replied no... By now, I had removed my coat and helmet, he was upset, pointing to the can, I looked hard, nothing showing still. I went to look closer, I swear there wasn't anything burning, I hovered that damned can... "PUMPHHHHH" a single paint can exploded in the bottom and rocketed from the bottom, hit me square in the noggen... bounced back into the can... Needless to say, my Engineer was rolling on the ground laughing at me, the priest made the comment, "how about now"... and wondered off... I stood there with a big green O on my forehead and a stupid look on my face.... LOL
