Today, I would like you all to take a moment and hear what I give thanks for.
I give thanks to God for blessing me with the honor of being a husband to the most beautiful woman I know, who gave me the most beautiful son that I could wish for and who's done everything she could to deal with me for the past (almost) four years.
I give thanks to the family of mine that has shown me love and acceptance no matter what disrupted our lives.
I give thanks to having those people whom I work with be there for anything I need.
I give thanks for the officers and firefighters in my company for allowing me to serve at their side and being so patient with me as I've missed so much because of college, but still get there when ever I can.
I give thanks for every soldier, sailor, airman and Marine serving this great country as I have. I give greater thanks to those who gave all and never came home standing proud.

I said the Thanksgiving Dinner Prayer for our gathering this afternoon. It became very emotional for me as i began to enumerate the blessings we often take for granted. We gathered at a private home this afternoon, all firefighters and first responders. The first blessing was to have come through this year without any serious injuries while being able to offer help and service to our community. Another is the addition of several younger (in age) members who have become really involved and willing to step up to the needs of our VFD. Even though, in our group, there are various religious and (maybe) political beliefs, we are committed to each other and the service to our community.
