Think about this one: You are minding your own business on a beautiful Sunday morning checking out the apparatus. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and the rookies are doing, well, what rookies do. Then all of a sudden CRASH! An oak tree falls in front of your station directly into the apparatus! That'll wake your ass up.
That's exactly what happened in Hillsborough County, Florida yesterday. An oak tree fell on Engine and Rescue 27 at Fire Station 27 (Blooingdale Ave). No one was injured and the vehicles were out of service for several hours - no doubt getting all the paperwork completed!
If you look at the photo below, it doesn't look all that bad ... nothing that a chainsaw and a little bit of carnuba wax can't fix! It's good to know that no one got hurt by this silent killer!
