I posted a comment in a training forum outlining a good search line drill that was easy and fun to do, and received 8 comments.

Then I see a post on whether or not blackened helmets are "cool" that received 26 comments.

I don't understand how this happens. It's not that my topic didn't receive any comments, I'm more miffed because I think people's priorities are fucked up.

That's all I wanted to say.

Remember - be safe out there, and train like your life depends on it.

Blackened helmets....LOL

LOL...Nothing I say is commented on. I'm going to change my name to "Thread Killer".

If you feel that you're posting valuable stuff, then keep posting it! If just one person reads it and finds it useful, then your post is a success.

Yeah, sorry I missed your post but I learned the hard way; there's so much content going on that sometimes something you post that's meaningful gets lost in the shuffle. If you have something you're really trying to get through, don't be shy about giving it a "bump" every now and then. Just don't do that often; that's when it goes from piquing interest to self-advertisement.

Good luck and if I can help, I'm happy to try. webchief's pretty good about hooking you up in a featured blog or something as well. I'm sure he'd like to hear your opinion too.

I see your point Siren and Kimberly. It would be nice to see at least the number of views, that way I would know people are at least looking and interested in learning something new.

Training and safety should be priority than what your gear looks like.

Please be SAFE everyone!

Siren is right, as much as training and the more serious topics here are important, sometimes I have a hard time coming up with a comment for those. I don't comment on much but I do take in what I read and try to put it into practice. I would rather know that people at least looked at what I wrote about then necessarily commented on it. Keep the faith people on here do care. Be Safe

I think you are on the right track, keep yourself safe, and the one you save maybe the idiot!

I agree that training should and always be every firefighter's priority. A nd i know blackened helmet's look cool but, but what these people don't realize is that they are putting them selves at risk with all the carbon build up on their helmets and thats spells disaster.

Catch 22 about what the gear looks like versus safety training- in this instance, we had people deliberately altering the look of their equipment, possibly compromising the safety.
