Study yes - but don't push it. We're all telling you that. Too much study, and you'll have the 'quals' without being able to do the job. A theoretical firefighter is almost worse than an untrained FF. The same applies to EMT of course. You need to do some work, on jobs not just training runs, to get the theory into perspective.

I'd say slow down and learn what the job of an E.M.T. requires and become proficient in that and then you can begin to understand what paramedicine is all about. Too many people rush to become a medic and have never really grasp the role of an E.M.T. and it shows. Nobody wants a guy who was the "Proby" last year to be the Chief this year. You gotta crawl before you can walk and you gotta walk before you can run. I'll also agree with Tony P. Try an english class while you're gaining more EMS experience. Reports will be a part of your job forever just like EMS and fires, get some training there too. You are 18, paid or volunteer you have a LONG career ahead of you. Slow down, enjoy and learn from experience, because nothing, and I mean NOTHING beats experience. You obviously have the passion and drive, you'll do fine.

But please, some sentences, punctuation and capital letters? It will make your writing so much easier to read. Report writing is an important part of being a firefighter, as you'll find out.

Congrats, keep on moving brother, find the guy in your organization that likes to do things right and has been there and see if he might let you soak up some of the knowledge. Train like there is no tomorrow because you will always be learning here in the fire service, good luck!
