The City of Alcoa Fire Department is beginning the process of hiring one (I think) fulltime firefighter. Today, I turned in my application and resume. Pretty much everything I've done for the past year has been leading up to this. I really believe that I have a legitimate shot at this job. I really hope it works out for me, because there probably won't be another opening there until July 09. I really want to work at this Department, but conversely, I hope I'm not still jobhunting 16 months from now. I think I will make some department a good employee, but I honestly have a hard time envisioning myself at another department. Alcoa gave me my first shot in the fire service, and I've built some really good relationships. I know this sounds pretty corny, but I look at it like when I met my wife. I knew in a couple of days that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and within a week we were engaged. Some times you just know, ya know. Anyhoo, anyone reading this, wish me luck!!
